When we started
|
Gilmore
College was
incorporated in 1989 by a high school teacher, Zenaida Ferry, who was a
graduate of the University of the Philippines, McGill University and
Concordia University, and has an extensive working experience in four
different businesses before becoming a business education teacher in
the Montreal Catholic School Commission.
Gilmore
College International was originally named Gilmore Business Institute
which was designed to be a school devoted to the total development of
an individual as well as to create a learning environment that promotes
and enhances a person's potential to succeed in his/her personal and
professional life.
Gilmore
opened
its doors to the public on November 1, 1989. It was first operated with
an education permit, giving personal self-improvement courses such as
Image & Personality Development, Executive Secretarial Skills,
Stress Management, Languages, until 1995 when its college permit was

Where
we are today
|
We celebrated the 25th year of Gilmore
College
foundation on November 1, 2014, the exact date in 1989 when it opened
its doors to the public. It was also the first time that a masquerade
ball was used as the theme of the party that was held at a popular
place, the Hellenic Community Center on Wilderton Avenue in Montreal.
The Philippine Ambassador to Canada was the guest of honor and speaker,
Hon. Petronila Garcia. Other government leaders present were Hon.
Helene David, Quebec’s Minister of Culture, Mr. Marvin Rotrand, NDG
Councillor of the CDN/NDG Borough, Montreal English School Board
Commissioner Elie Ysrael. Everyone was elegantly dressed with beautiful
masks. It was indeed a night to remember.
For the school year 2016-2017, the College hopes to resume offering
credit programs in webpage design and accounting but it will still
continue to offer self-improvement courses such as PAB/PSW (nursing
aide), Early Childhood Education, Small Business Management, second
language courses in English, French, Mandarin, Spanish and Filipino. It
has an up-to-date computer lab for courses such as keyboarding,
Microsoft Office, Sage Simply Accounting, and interest courses such as
fashion photography and video production.
Staffed by a highly qualified and dedicated teachers Gilmore
College International
is becoming better known as time goes on. Prospective employers are
constantly calling to offer jobs to its graduates. Its students come
from different cultural groups thus creating a student body which helps
promote international goodwill and understanding among nations of the
world. The prospect of having a similar private college in other places
is being considered as expansion plans are being developed in the near
future in collaboration with other educational organizations abroad. |
